We've posted our first 'Data Dive' blog post.
On our Data Insights team at Classy, we've been hard at work building out our data warehouse, internal KPIs, and launching some internal models. We've begun a blog series to explore the Classy data, and have published the first one today. It's called "New Data Reveals Giving Tuesday Is a Goldmine of New Donors". Check it out!

We've created a new 'Data Insights' team at Classy!
In addition to working with social impact data, I have been given the thumbs-up to create a data science team at Classy. This new "Data Insights" team will use Classy's fundraising data to extracting insights for our customers, as well as help build next-generation tools to help our customers fundraise for their incredible causes!

My 'elevator speech'
Every academic should be able to excite and inform people about their work within 30 seconds, and give additional details within 2 minutes. I wrote an "elevator speech" for a science communication class I'm sitting in on.

New publication: 'Decoding Voxels Using Deep Learning'
Panqu Wang, Vicente Malave, and I published a 'Journal Club' article in the Journal of Neuroscience, reviewing a recent paper relating deep neural networks and visual brain activity.

Mentor Assist Program (MAP) begins!
I have accepted 12 high school mentees as part of the Mentor Assist Program (MAP). Four will work with me on research, eight will develop independent projects.

My first public lecture: 'A Mostly True History of the Human Half-Brain'
I gave a talk at the La Jolla Public Library titled "A Mostly True History of the Human Half-Brain". The hangout-on-air failed (slow library WiFi), but I will re-record soon and post a blog as well.
